So as the resident cheese addicted binge eater, I love to gather the gal pals and go stuff our faces with yummy “treats” from various eataries around town. I came across a wonderful little haven called the Shangri-La diner the other day. I know. I know. Another diner right? It’s bad enough that after my cocktailed infused nights at R Bar that I can sway on over to After for nachos and macaroni and cheese. Add extra cheese on the side please.
With Summer fast approaching all of us are running around with our heads cut off wondering where the extra baggage came from? Could be the pizza delivery at 3am? Hmmm….I have to admit that after my last blip of ordering pizza when I got home from a particularly LONG night…and then passing out before the “goods” were delivered that I am now BLOCKED from ordering pizzas from the downtown location of Domino’s pizza. I did however save the 3 scolding messages that the angry delivery driver left. What’s a girl to do?

Next, if you MUST chow head to Shangri-La Diner nestled in the charming area called Cherokee’s Antique Row (2201 Cherokee Street) where this fun and HEALTHY restaurant even boasts vegetarian and vegan items! No evil trans fats are used for anything on the menu. You can grab anything from a vegan Chocolate shake to a St.Louis Slinger that uses tofu, vegan chili and a multi grain toast. It is DELISH!
Other items that you may want to nosh on are the Veggie Burger, Creme’ Brulee French Toast, and the Celestial Salad which has romaine lettuce, and has smoky salmon crumbled on top, salsa drizzled on top with a healthy kick of guac and tortilla chips. YUM!
